Ok. It wasn't ONE spider. It was three. And they took out everyone but Hawke, who had perhaps 2 hp left to his name.

Lolth taught me a lesson that day, let me tell you.

Never Again

I remember doing a Normal playthrough in DAII, and it was a slog for me. The worst part was that fight with the High Dragon in the mine and it literally took me 2 hours to kill her.

Never again. I'm staying on Casual difficulty where I belong.

I remember my first playthrough was on normal up until the fight against the dragon in the Deep Roads at the end of Chapter 1. Then it was easy the rest of the way.

My insistence on using Merrill instead of Anders may have had something to do with it.

Yeah, sometimes I also say to myself, "What's the worst that could happen", before regretting every life decision I ever made as my fresh new character lies on the floor in a broken heap of hopes and aspirations.

Me in PoE on EASIEST difficulty. I used to be ashamed of being such a noob in these kind of games... until I realised my fun while playing the way I enjoy is worth a lot more to me than what would people I don't even know say :-)

@Broseidon: I think that is the worst part about higher difficulties? That fights just take *longer*. It doesn't feel rewarding, at least not for me, just... like I'm here kiting a dragon for 2 hours when this could have been done in 10 min max and I could have continued with the story. Obviously it appeals to people (who are probably better at tactics than I am) but... no. I'm good here on normal and casual. I've got shit to do and only so many hours I can put into playing games, you know?

@Guest: There is something about the Deep Roads in every DA game that makes me grit my teeth... That floating rock boss did not spark joy, that is for sure.

@Deonis: You paint an all too familiar picture... :I

@mamiser: No shame in playing games to have fun, at all! If I have to attempt a battle for the forth time it is pretty safe to say that I am not enjoying it anymore.
I'm trying to find the time to get through PoE2 at the moment and... well, good thing I leveled stealth because I got stuck in a long area where everything was WAY too powerful.

@zenat: I hear that. Could've done a couple of things around the house in the time it took to bring that overgrown chicken down and been at least as productive. Would've been more fun, too.

I think the hardest was FE13 lunatic+. No deaths. The first four levels are a test of a sort. And if the wrong enemy gets counter better restart.

And I agree with you spiders are annoying due to webs and poison. You do not know if they are poison or web spiders, or worst both. If they are only poison run in, if they are web don't run in.

Or it could be the teleporting poison web spiders. But only one game has given us the teleporting poison web spiders. Just so long as they don't combine that with the spider daedra, which can summon more teleporting poison web spiders.

i'm kinda the other way around, i always start with high/nightmare dificulty in the firt playthroughs. than over time when i make a new one i want the game to be faster so i play on normal.

though admittedly, for dragon age 2, playing as hard is like playing on normal in inquisition.

@wildmageguy: I want to say that Baldur's Gate had teleporting poison spiders, but I'm not sure if they used web too. I DO remember walking into their web traps about fifty thousand times though...

@Blazypika2: You are braver than me, that's for sure. I need to get a feel of how difficult a game is before I go fiddling with the difficulty.

No it was, dos2 or iwd2. They didn't teleport to where you are though they just teleported the deathfog on you.
