I tell a lie of course. It was poor Minsc who had to run around for close to 30 min while the rest of the team peltered Drizzt with everything even remotely resembling a projectile.
If you haven't fought Drizzt Do'Urden in Baldur's Gate, well, I can tell you he is the most obnoxiously and unfairly overpowered asshat I have ever encountered. He is likely to kill a weaker character in one blow, and judging by the rolls you can only hit him if you roll a 20.
Additionally, if you kill him in the first game, you will be forced to fight him in Baldur's Gate 2, because he remembers that you went out of your way to kill him the first time you met. Even if he totally deserved it.

And no... Viconia will not acknowledge the great effort you went through for her. I think it's a drow thing.

That
's the main reason I love the sequel so much more: no banter to be had in the first(mods don't count).

Yes, funny I killed him, and reloaded when I the game didn't even give me an achievement for it.

I understand and this is cute art, yey Viconia. But she won't notice you until SoD and BG2. Are there any other odd things you noticed that we do for the character we ship our character with, I mean there is giving them the best equipment we can give them after the mainchar. And bringing them in the group more, giving their quest priority, but I feel there is something else that is done as well, saving up gifts perhaps?

But wait the house and family which tried to kill her? And I thought that the best armor was Bauldurans?

She will acknowledge you in two games (counting the expansion set between them), and her awesome music will play before the heavens. Just consider it another motivation to finish the first game and remember to pack the gold pants and get the stat books. Also be careful dark elf women are glitchy.

I might or might not spend a lot of time nobody will ever give me back trying to pickpocket his scimitar every time I meet him. Even if nobody can use the bloody thing properly in BG1, not even Jaheira. It's a matter of principle.

@Sharp-Claw: If the choice is between "companions talking more" and "anything else really", you should always choose the former. Always.

@wildmageguy: I think BG is from before the days of achievements. You just need to feel the pride of successfully dealing with Drizzt in your heart, that is all the achievement you need. It won't give you back the half an hour it took, but nevertheless.

The very start of Drizzt's story - aka (squint at bookshelf) Homeland - starts with the Do'Urdens attacking and destroying house DeVir. I will admit that Drizzt was not responsible, as he was born that very night. Nevertheless.

Once I dragged those golden pantaloons with me through almost two games before I finally was able to successfully use them. It didn't feel worth all the loot I had to backtrack for, alas.

@warrion: I can respect that. Granted, if it means screwing with Drizzt then I can respect it, no matter what it is.
... I am fully aware that I have issues, thank you.

I remember, awkwardly reloading and checking guides to see if the ship was done correctly and on games like: dragon age 1/2, divinity original sin 2, neverwinter nights 2, swtor, and kotor 2 reloading to prevent influence loss when influence is clearly defined or there is a limited amount you can gain.

But looking back on this post and thinking about what was done made me realize something. I think five of my characters in rpgs are some kind of dark elf, and four of my video game characters (counting a certain mod) are shipped with a dark elf. Even among non ships sinister/violent elves might be a theme, or is it the games? The only exception would be Solas (final canon ship cassandra). Did you cause this thing to spread?

Also Viconia's mom did try to sacrifice her, after the crime of not killing a baby. And the steam ee does have achievements, most hard non-drizzt bosses give them.

@Wildmageguy: If one can play a dark elf, one should play a dark elf. That is the truth of games.

I did not know the EE had achievements. I got mine through Beamdog, I think, so, alas, no achievements for me.

@Blazypika2: ... yes. And longer. The Arishok didn't take as long for me. But it felt like years, years upon years of regret. We could have been friends, damnit!

Old tidbit

Regarding Drizzt...I remember an old tip I gleaned from a walkthrough site at one time that basically said "Surround him with your party members so he can't move. Remove everyone from your party so they are now NPCs. Drizzt will not attack NPCs. Whittle away his health at your leisure." Can't remember if it was for 1 or 2, though.

@Copper: I imagine it must be for BG1, since he has a whole team in BG2 who unfairly join in to avenge his temporary death.
