Some 20 000 humans are being sent from the Milky Way to Andromeda. A great adventure that will be very taxing upon mind, body and mood. How does one best pick candidates to undertake such a mission?
Well, Zaeed Massani's estranged son, who is just a loner with a gun who gets his kicks killing aliens, was definitely not someone I would have sent on such a sensitive mission, is what I am saying.

Well...

Most members of the Andromeda Initiative would not fit actuall criteria.

I also have to comment that from a purely practical point I would actually not send people unable to reproduce, if every part of the Initiative had to have descendants and IF there wasn't any way to circumvent problems coming from people unable to reproduce.

Which I know sounds terrible when read with even the slightest thread of empathy.

Let's not forget Conrad Verner's sister on Kadara. Being prone to obsessive hero worship is also probably a bad trait to have.

I'm honestly still surprised they didn't pick a pathfinder for the Nexus itself.
Or at least a nexus team with special AI's installed like the pathfinders had.
Odd that no one thought that Arks might get a bit lost on that really long trip...

Im pretty sure 19,935 people out of that 20,000 were not fit to go on that trip. that was one of the things that pissed me off the most. The shear number of people who should never have been on that ark. That was some seriously terrible writing. on so many levels.

Well going far away with no assurance of success, on a ship you hope doesn't crash probably doesn't draw the best people. So I can see why people wouldn't want to join. For example, PB joined because she was bored, and Vetra joined because she wanted to get away from something. If not enough people are applying the standards might be anyone with a pulse who could survive cryo, for general colonists. But how are we going to fight off an evil empire with 100,000 people and some cat/squid aliens?

@Someone: I'm sure there's like, cloning and stuff. If nothing else, there's asari, I guess?

@Deonis: I'm sure she's got very important skills to make up for it. That we never hear of.

@Amylianna: Honestly, they should have had multiple pathfinders. All of the pathfinders kept dying -.-

@Shaleene: I'm not sure if I agree. 65 competent people on that ark seems a bit extreme.

@wildmageguy: Honestly, the poor planning went from top to bottom on the Andromeda initative. I'm amazed so many survived the trip at all tbh.

lol ok I might be exaggerating a little. But the number of terrible people that ended up in andromeda was still asinine.
