The order I talked to people resulted in a total mood whiplash of "Blackwall whyyyy?" to "drop everything, my precious is actually in the game holy shit, it's 2 am I don't care, team let's go!"
I caught my own reflection in the window. The expression is not even an exaggeration.
Is that Hawke (pardon my spelling haven't play DA2 for some time) or is it the custom character in the 3rd panel?
@ted the saiyanfox: Thats default Hawke yes :3
Have fun in the Fade with Loghain and Hawke. :P
So my friends game flagged her as being in a romance with Blackwall without her knowing so I figured he was the stalkery character in every Bioware game (looking at you Alistair/Leliana/Kaidan/Anders). Then I got this dialogue. I was on the phone with her 10 minutes later crying that even the stalker character wouldnt love me.
A Hawke romance? If only
@Deonis: It was horrible. The end :I
@Retroberrii: Hahaha wow, ok you made me make a very unflattering snorting sound there thanks XD
@zenat: I'm not sure how to ask without being spoilerific, so apologies to any accidental readers; but who did you choose at the end?
Well, at least blackwall's shoulder will be there afterwards for you to cry on.
So, you had your beloved Loghain and Hawke in the Fade? Bad. trip. I thank the Maker that I made Alistair king and not left him a Gray Warden, cause I would have /sadquit and then deleted the game and ran to Dragon Keep and changed everything.
Damn you, Patrick Weekes! (he wrote that part, the evil monster :D )
@Jakeli: I had a lie down and stared at the wall, that is what I did. Like a grown, sensible person who is totally capable of handling shit. But yeah. Loghain. Eventually.
@ScreamingViking: I am not sure it counts if you can't verbalize the pain in game :(
@Billie: It was made worse by the fact that all my friends had Stroud. And when I told them who I had they all just went "... oh. I am SO sorry."
Absolutely hated it, and loved it at the same time. I think Weekes wrote the krogan wrap up in ME3 too? Best part of ME3 if you ask me, lots of consequences and questionable decisions.
I have never wanted to punch something more than when I fell into the trap of choosing the "default" "iconic" Hawke. Maybe it was just a PS3 thing, but oh my god I think I had more chance of recognising Merrill at the beginning of DA2. It was awful :|
@zenat: As someone who faced the same choice I really don't feel there was much doubt as to the right one (Of course, I only liked Loghain so...). One is a 60 year old with darkspawn blood in him who nearly the whole world hates the other... isn't. It was still enough of a choice to make me react though, Stroud was a problem here as I kind of doubt anyone was bonded with him enough to pause. Personally I'm interested in meeting someone who had Hawke and Alistair (and actually liked both).
@zenat: I'm so sorry; I know the feeling. It took me almost twenty minutes to make a decision involving a certain Qunari later on in the game. I fear I made the wrong decision and couldn't bare to look in the mirror for hours out of shame.
@zenat: Having never played DA2, I would have found this to be one if it weren't for the fact that my PC doesn't like Inquisition. (Maybe I'll buy the PS3 version over the summer.)
Anyway, sorry to hear you didn't find it to be so. I guess the only thing to say is that Bioware wasn't joking about "dark fantasy."
@Procter: So much in agreement. Ugh.
@riverdaleswhiteflash: I started laughing before I suddenly realised you meant your computer. I had that problem too but as I don't have any other console and my laptop was getting on with its years... I bought a desktop one. I guess I can't get out of saying that the new PC was bought 80% due to DAI. *shifty eyes* I didn't tell anyone who might have questioned the wisdom of that. Just blamed it on a lot of other problems the laptop had and exaggerated them a bit.
@Norgrath: In my first playthrough, I actually had both Alistair and my favorite Hawke. I stared at the screen for a full 10 minutes trying to make a decision before decided that my Hawke had been through enough and deserved a happy ending. So does Alistair, but my Hawke romanced Anders... so... yeah...
@Jen: Same here, bought my new PC, much to the chagrin of my mother, almost only because of DAI. And then, the games crashed. And again. And again. And somehow I reached the almost-end of the game inbetween crashing, and found out that the motherboard of the PC was causing the problem. Changed it to a simple, cheap and non-gamer one and it worked like a charm.
@ Grimalkenkid: When I found out via YouTube that this situation could actually happen, I cringed so hard. Cause, my Hawke was with Anders too, but then, my Warden would come home to find that Alistair had died in the Fade and there wasn't even anything to bury... but then again, Anders will be left alone if Hawke died and would probably go insane and kill everyone.
This game is pure evil. It's awesome.
I had Alistair and Hawke. Both were in the relationships I wanted them to be in. I played DAI before playing DAO, so when I went back to play another run through of DAI with the keeps customization and found out that I had to choose between the two my heart shattered and I couldn't play the game for at least a solid week. I eventually sacrificed Alistair because I reasoned he had had ten years with my warden and Hawke's relationship with Fenris was still freshly re-established.
I'm secretly hoping Alistair can be rescued because you don't see him die, its assumed.
I feel silly posting this so late but it feels good to share the pain.
