We present this humble offering to you:
Forever resentful mother and good guy ser Bryant.
oh yes i always wondered WHY i had to work my ass off to pay for getting in and why she just laid back on her ass..i mean i'm sure there are some old lady prostitutes at that one place whose name i forget...but then again they all did look old....in another news i got the entire mass effect collection for 20 something dollars at game stop :D and for some odd reason wrex got gunned down in fist's office yet when i took out the turrets he was up and shot fist in the face...to which i said "you get a giant cookie wrex" to myself
Yeah, I really don't like Leandra that much, she was pretty aggravtign for the longest time (went back to the game recently, so I'm wondering if that's going to change)
I tell myself that (due to Gamlen and Carver being slobs) Mom Hawke did ALL the cooking, cleaning, and washing. It kinda helps... for the first year, anyway. It breaks down if Bethany survives though, I can't imagine her not helping. =/
I was quite annoyed with Leandra as she expected everything to be given to her. I really hated her when she was berating Gamlen for losing the house as all I could think about was how she left.
I really wish there was a way for your Hawke to not really care about her death as the Arishock death was more moving than hers.
Also wish there was a way to invite Gamlen to live with you.
@FlareD: Most fereldens couldn't find work. Who says Leandra didn't try to find work, and failed? Most of the refugees are in that boat, and it's not like she has youth or skills to offer.
Gamlen could have owned the mansion, and gave it to slavers instead. He deserves to live in low town. Leandra shouldn't have been left an estate she wasn't going to return to, but Gamlen couldn't hold his coin when it was given to him on a platinum platter.
@Joe Shmo: Gamlen asks her to contribute to the household, and she has a fit about how her children worked like slaves for a year. Instead of offering to at least try to find something. Sure there aren't a whole lot of jobs available, but it's also clear that Gamlen hasn't got a whole lot to live off in the first place.
@zenat: He has enough to visit the Blooming Rose daily.
@Joe Shmo: He's got debts up to his ears, but yes, you can find him at the Blooming Rose, but consider that there's not exactly a real life day cycle in the game. And regardless, it's common decency to try to help out if you're living with someone for such a long period of time.
@zenat: True, but his debts were all in relation to vices, or theft. For example, he owed the mercs for cheating one of their men. If you work for the mercs, you're paying your way into the city and paying off his debt too.
Not that it isn't courteous to help expenses, but any money going to Gamlen would have ended up in the pocket of a prostitute, slaver, merc, or smuggler.
As far as common courtesy, Gamlen's response to hearing his brother-in-law and nephew were dead was to complain about being asked to help.
My point isn't really to defend Leandra, she wasn't a particularly compelling or likable character. She just looks that way compared to Gamlen, in my opinion.
@Joe Shmo: Well, the comic wasn't about Gamlen and I don't claim that he's a good person, just that Leandra's attitude to helping out is a bit shitty.
Let's just say the whole family was hawkeward? Mum refuses to contribute, uncle can't hold his coin, brother living in eternal shadow of awesome-hawke, and sister who makes your whole life an escape routine only to change her mind later about joining prison-herhm, I mean The Circle of virtue and rainbows. :) That family had issues - until they... kinda died D: Mum definitely should have gotten herself a job instead of going on dates with the flower-creep, yepp. -.-
