I can't be mad with someone when they're making me laugh. And Loghain is funny and there goes the in character anger. Fuuuuuu-
If you haven't recruited him and made a point to talk to him, you're missing out. It is known.
There really needs to be more Loghain fanfics...please write one. :)
I got Loghain on my Amell playthrough and was so happy I did because he is brilliant.
I think the reason why he is more relaxed is that he is just a simple soldier again. As in my mind Loghain can fight and plan like the best of them. But as soon as you make him do politics he is out of his comfort zone as he has being around soldier all his life so he would expect everyone to act like that.
Much more satisfying than dear Alistair, I can say that much xD
honestly i could never quite forgive logain, even in the playthroughs where I let him live.
I would start with "ok i will sympathize today"
then "this man ordered the grey wardens to their deaths", "this man was ok with torturing innocents", "this man is essentially responsible for the genocide the darkspawn are inflicting on the south".
then "inarticulate hissing" followed by ignoring logain xD
@StilleNacht: And don't forget that he is completely unrepentant about selling elves into slavery.
I just can't spare him...
It feels really satisfying to cut his head off after all he has been doing during the story to this point...and I just can't see Alistair leave.
I tried it once...then had to load the game again and felt good cutting his head off again. XD
Is fanfiction supposed to be a "worse fate" or is this you giving up and looking for a shipping fic?
@rocket13137: It's been years since I wrote fanfic, and I don't have nearly enough time for it. I'll stick to the fancomics, I think ;)
@FlareD: Oh I agree, on both accounts.
@Kara: His humor is much more appealing to me than Alistair's, so he kind of wins on that front.
@StilleNacht: To be fair, a lot of the grey warden/darkspawn business originated in not having enough information (the wardens are a secretive bunch) and being paranoid about Orlesians, rather than actual malice. And if you mean the people in Howe's dungeon, I'm not sure how much he really knew about that. But each to their own. I've fallen for redeemable villains since I was... five years old or so. I'm clearly not an impartial judge here.
@Tov01: While I don't approve of it, I can see the logic behind it. The renegade choice to the warden's paragon - sell the elves to slavery to try to save the city and the rest of the population, vs risk everyone and try to save everyone. Does that make sense?
@Lorac: Even the time I did execute him... I didn't really feel happy about it at all, not even satisfied. It felt like I did the wrong thing, but then I've always been prone to try to see things from the antagonist's perspective. And I occasionally feel guilty about killing random guards so... yeah... I think you're missing out at any rate.
@Norgrath: Looking for fanfic. And let me tell you, there is not nearly enough Loghain fic out there. Or Arishok fic. Or Zaeed fic. I feel like the world is laughing at my misery.
I meant that Alistair's appearance wasn't as satisfying in Awakening... non-existent and 'Oh hey, I'm off to be a King, so here you go.'
But yep, Loghain's dryness was just wonderful.
Maybe it's just that I can't easily forgive abandoning the ferendan army and the grey wardens.
Probably I'm missing out, but I don't want to spend a playthrough with a character in the party that I just can't stand and that I in 90% of conversations want to punch in the face. XD
@Lorac: The other 10% are pure, unadulterated awesome. And I think he had a point when he said that Cailan and the Wardens were screwed no matter what Loghain did.
I won't endure him beeing insufferable 90% of the time just for the 10% where he is half way decent. XD
Maybe it's just the thing, that if he hadn't shown up at all it would have been more or less honorable...but not participating in the battle after everyone else has charged in is just beeing an asshole. Losing the grey wardens and the king meant a gain in power for him, which leads me to the conclusion that he didn't really do this as an act of selflessness.
Probably everyone has a character that he/she just can't stand to have around. For me it's definetely Loghain.^^
@Lorac: I agree with that. I can't really stand Shale, despite the fact that she's funny and awesome in battle.
I love how so many people have different reactions to Loghain. Hehe, your face when you were saying "I'm trying to roleplay here" ! It's pretty great, as if you're genuinely amused and laughing despite yourself.
That being said...
*Goes to browse for Loghain fanfics*
@Tov01: Dude, they're elves. Who cares? - every human in Thedas, ever.
