First time playing ME3 I played a vanguard, and cheerfully charged brutes to death on a regular basis. Amare, on the other hand, played an engineer and spent a great deal of time whimpering and running for cover when the brutes came out to play.
The flip side of the coin was my dread of phantoms, the insta-killers, that I found difficult to deal with because charging them meant being close to them and that was bad news. Amare didn’t even know what they did, a whole game later, because they never got close enough.
Indeed! I always love charging the Brutes with my Vanguard! Emitting an epic battle cry as you bring swift death to your enemy. Satisfying.
Though I must say I am jealous of your Engineers ability to kill the phantoms before they could really attack you. They are always my top priority to kill because they are such a pain.
As an adapt I usually just bust their armour with my biotic magic and shoot them to death with my tiny pistol... while running away from them and crying like crazy XD
their is nothing more fun than headbutt jousting with a brute
I too was a badass vanguard, i fucked up everybody! BOOM! everybody died when i walked in
Somehow despite everyone's talk about how easy the Geth are on MP, I found them most difficult ones to kill... both on MP and ME3 Rannoch.
I specially hate when Geth bombers dodge my Paladin's freeze and stun him on the face.
Ah, the headbutt contents with the brutes, always fun. season them with some lead (or the equvilant of it) make them tender with a biotic charge, and then when they think it is over...... BAAAM you smash their face in!!! they are the best enemies, just though enought for you to enjoy it:P the phantoms are a bitch, but i screamed the first time i met the banshees, the horror they have inflicted on me :S
I always felt that vanguard seemed like the 'right' class for Shepard. Soldiers are too 'common' infiltrators, engineers and adepts don't really seems like leaders and Kaiden really feels like the sentinel class is his whereas no-one can say that for vanguard.
Everyone hated the engineer class. I sorta get why, but I loved my engi Shep, and would never trade out his abilities or skill set.
@fezeth13: I think it's nice to see that the different classes really do have their own particular strengths. The engineer might not have been the strongest, but they have incinerate and overload. Two skills I find quite satisfying myself. I have a tendency of using fire in games where it is possible... it's quite unintentional too. Maybe I should be a little concerned.
@byarru: Of all the weapons I can use I actually prefer the pistol, because they tend to have a steadier aim XD.
@Aurelia Cetinn: I'm going to have to try it aren't I? XD
@Almightyra: I almost feel a little sorry about the enemies that face a vanguard. One minute you're standing the next you've been blown to pieces by a human cannonball.
@Knightly: I tend to just use overload and whatnot on geth. It works like a charm :D. Brutes however... will forever be my enemies, along with banshees. Banshees scare me :I.
@chr982: Yes, the banshees... seriously those things are creepy! The fact that they look sort of pregnant too, just adds to the level of horror for some reason. Brutes are a pain but Banshees are just unsettling :I.
@Norgrath: I can see what you mean, but I think an engineer could just as well be a leader even if they are not the typical stand up and give speeches types. Shepard is sort of Shepard to me, regardless of what type of soldier she is.
@Griffen: I love my engi Shep too. She is forever in my heart and causing panic by burning my enemies is a bit too satisfying for me to ever let her go.
@Amare: defiantly you won't regret it i recommend you also headbutt the Cerberus phantoms shows those little chumps XD
You know, I played an Engineer Shepard, and I had NO issues when it came to the Brutes... a Turret to one side.. a Combat drone to the other.. then pump it full of lead with my N7 Typhoon!
Now Banshees... Banshee's can go straight to hell when your Engineer D:
I played an Infiltrator Shepard through all 3 games. The only thing that ever got remotely close to me were the Banshees. (Oh God, stops the screams. And cover the breasts, I didn't want to see naked Asari THAT way. >_>)
Everything smaller was obliterated with repeated head-shots. :D
Vanguards are *awesome* in ME3
