And we're back!
I love Bioware for including romances so you can get to know your companion better. They just aren't very good at picking the characters that I want for those romances...
And really, in Dragon Age 2 you should have been able to romance someone who wasn't in your party, as you can't even talk to the companions whenever you want to anyway (DA:O system back, please! D:)
Aww, poor Hawke! Although I can totally feel her pain - why can't we add beefy Qunari, handsome templars or certain dwarves to our romance options? :( Bioware, you tease!
Yes, it's like a cliche. no quinari or dwarf? What's wrong, Bioware? Can't make an snimation?!
Bioware seemed to think that the best romance choices in DA2 was the insane ones. Next to those four options Varric, Arishok and Cullen looked like knights in shining armor (granted, one sort of is...) Here's hoping for DA3 with some qunari loving. I let the Arishok go for a reason, damnit!
I had this same feeling playing through the first time. I kept hoping for that little heart with Varric, but noooo. The coolest character and you can't even mess with him.
This particular edition is probably my fave so far! So colorful, and of course freaking hilarious.
The irony in it all is that the members of your group that were sane and normal enough to be suitable for a romance were... exactly those that you couldn't romance. So instead we can watch Aveline get together with Donnic and Varric stroke Bianca... and enjoy the company of a raging mage, a raging anti-mage, a raging blood mage, and a raging STD on legs. Hooray?
Question is, who's the raging STD one? They're all whores.
Well, one certainly has a reputation beyond the rest... Granted, the way my ho Hawke carried on, everyone else caught what Isabela had XD And I doubt that Fenris would ask Anders to magically clean his genitals so... yeah XD
I know exactly how you feel D:
That very thought struck me as well when you were saving Saemus. And when the Arishok stood there and just *looked* at you before marching off... damn. I had hoped that he'd at the very least ask if I'd want to join the Qun and sail to Par Vollen with him T_T
Well, Arishok had a thing about Hawke. I mean... What has she done to get such attention? Especially pacifist Hawke
And why does he keep asking her opinion? What about Meredith, Orsino or Dumar?
Yes... I know what you mean. I was hoping for an "Hawke, just join the Qun and sail off to Par Vollen with me" convo, but alas it was not to be.
I suppose he noticed that Hawke was probably the sanest person in all of Kirkwall. That city is Thedas' mental institution.
Well... "the sanest"?
Everybody is insane in Kirwall... and bi (c) Varrik
Nah, everyone is just Hawke-sexual XD
Bioware. You need to learn. People want to romance almost EVERYONE. You must make it happen. That... or make a completely different game just for romance and mature... even 18+. I'd have to wait two years...but I'd so buy it.
Haha - Bioware, this time making a romance game with fantasy elements, rather than the other way around XD But really, I expected to be able to marry myself into power and wealth in DA2, and was mighty disappointed when this was never an option.
Again...People love the romance...their games are good...and I think that it's good they limit it to very...interesting choices instead of regular people like Fable...but there are some dissapointments here and there. Again... all the fanfic with Romance! So much fanfic you can drown a man in it....and offer him a glass of it to drink.
Haha perhaps. But to be honest, DA2 didn't offer me ANY romances that felt... well... right in the head :I Aveline and Varric were unromancable (and I'm not complaining, I LIKE that Aveline didn't get it when you were flirting with her), but those were the two sane people in your crew. Origins had Zevran and Morrigan who, at least, appealed to me on a 'you're so messed up but deep down fluffy and you don't know what to do with it' kind of level. Fenris had a *hint* of that, but that quickly drowned in his constant RAWR MAGES RAWR. Made me want to elope with the Arishok, or perhaps the Viscount's son :(
What I'm trying to say is... it's great that they vary their romances and their personalities, but it wouldn't hurt if they had a sane option in there (as well as a 'we need to break up' alternative which can be accessed at all times), because I am currently convinced that my first poor Hawke has some severe issues as she was dating Anders for three years even though he's clearly emotionally manipulative and increasingly insane. And the other options are not much better.
I know...but they catered to most people's wants. They won't cater to all of us...god knows I want to see my Warden again (Even though he left with Morrigan). Anyway...we should talk via Deviantart if you want. I like conversations about any games and opinions. Losuurx as always.
I remember trying to romance Aveline without any guides to give me spoilers, and then being real frustrated when all I got was a kiss. >I
And while I would approve of having Qunari "romance-able", I am under the impression that such a thing might be weird for a few reasons.
Such as that they don't have physical urges, so any affection Qunari share is expressed differently (as said on their Wikia). It would be sorta sad if the Qunari in DA2 WERE romancing Hawke; Saarebas giving his "secret thing", the Arishok giving you his approval and respect, etc. Still though, it would be one hell of a romancing if they did allow one for the next game.
Also, if you run around with Sten and Morrigan in your party in DA:O, Morrigan tries to get in the sack with Sten, which results in a HILARIOUS conversation between them where Sten is telling Morrigan that she'll need armor, a helmet, something to bite down on, and a iron pry bar she would need to heat up to get his attention with if he decides to nuzzle.
@Richard/Dick: I love that Sten-Morrigan exchange XD But yeah, I'd love a qunari romance, first and foremost for the cultural differences and alien views on society and how it should work.
